Quilts of Valor
Quilts of Valor is a nationwide organization that volunteers to make quilts that are given to our country’s veterans of World War Two, the Korean War, and lately, the Vietnam War. The original group was started here in the Maryland/Delaware area by a woman who gave a quilt to the Walter Reed hospital. One of the doctors mentioned to her that it would wonderful if more of their veterans could have a quilt, and so the Quilts of Valor foundation was started.
Southern Maryland Vacuum & Sewing Center believes in giving back to our military men and women who have served so bravely in the defense of our nation and way of life. We have made a commitment to join the Quilts of Valor Foundation in crafting and awarding high quality quilts worthy of the sacrifices made by service members. The QOV mission statement is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. A Quilt of Valor is our award to those who have been touched by war. It says, “thank you for your service, sacrifice and valor”, in serving our nation.
We believe in this mission and if you share our passion and are looking for a way to give back to our service members, then join us every third Sunday, 1-3pm (drive around to the back of the store to enter the classroom door).
